The agriculture sector in India is generally unorganized with a majority of agri-related activities being carried out by small market participants, who require funding support from time to time. In this light, Punarvasu provides funding services during the post-harvest stages. It facilitates financing primarily against collateral of the stocks stored in SSL warehouses or those approved by Punarvasu, the quality of which can be tested and certified at the in-house laboratories or laboratories approved by Punarvasu.
Warehouse Receipts are poised to become a prime tool of commodity trade, beneficial for all stakeholders, including godown owners, farmers or consumers. The depositor gets an officially recognised receipt against which he can access bank loans for further farming/business alternatively sell his produce to a third person by endorsing the receipt, without even taking physical possession.
Further, Punarvasu has entered into an ‘e-pledge facilitation agreement’ with NCDEX to lend against the goods which can be traded on the NCDEX.
